 A currency can be considered powerful because of the rate of international market demand. We are basing the value of currencies in this article against the United States dollar. It has to be the United States dollar because it is a global currency. A global currency is a currency that can be used for all manner of trade transactions anywhere in the world. 1. Libyan Dinar(  1usd = LD1.32)

This is the official currency of Libya, a northern African country. The currency has been strongest in Africa for sometime. This is despite the continuous war and violence in the region. The Libyan central bank has a programme that allows its citizens access to limited number of Us dollar. It is one of the reasons this currency remains Africa's top currency for so long.

2.  Tunisian Dinar( 1 usd = DT2.71 )

Why this currency is strong is because the country has in place a well defined export, import and currency conversion policy.

3.   Ghanaian Cedi ( 1usd = GHC5.78 )

Ghanaian cedi number 3 in Africa? Where is the naira? Nigerians will not believe this but it's true! Ghana is the only west African country on the top five of this list. this is because of Ghana's GDP per capita. And it the largest in west Africa! Nigeria?
