Leicester City Earned More Money In Champions League Than Real Madrid

Though Real Madrid were the winner of 2016/17 UEFA Champions League, Leicester City who were knocked out by Athletico Madrid in the quarter finals got more Champions League money than them.

This is mainly because the money from the market pool was divided to each club according to the value of the TV deal in each country. Leicester City, the only English side that advanced up to quarter final in last season Champions League got a total of £73.2m while Real Madrid received £72.6m. The Italian giant, Juventus were the only club that gained more money than Leicester City - they were paid £98.6m.

Around £1.25bn was shared to all th clubs that took part in last season Champions League
Manchester United were given .£40m for winning th Europa League - this figure is almost double what other clubs in the competition received last season. Manchester City got £45m for reaching the round of 16. Arsenal, who were whitewashed by Bayern munich in the round of 16, received £58m. Tottenham hotspur, who did not make it to the knock- out stages, got £39m. Celtic, who also did not make it to the knock-out stages, got £28m.
